US Department of Labor Marks #EqualPayNow with a Livestreaming Event #MicrobizMonday

Today was going to be when I announced the change of Microbiz Monday to just Microbiz Day (better hashtag, easier for folks to join in). But something more pressing has come up.

The US Labor Department is marking Equal Pay Day (April 14) with a live broadcast featuring:

They’ll be having an important discussion about the gender wage gap at the Labor Department in Washington, D.C. And you can even watch it stream live.

If you know anything about me, you know I  believe in social justice for all people. The issue of equal pay for people doing the same work is of the utmost importance. Middle class incomes rise (as they certainly would as a result of equal pay) and households spend more money. It’s good for business, it’s good for families and fair is fair.

And if that isn’t enough proof, maybe Batgirl can convince you.

Makes a lot of sense, right?

If you’d like to participate in this event, you can watch it online, free at 11 am Eastern tomorrow, on the Department of Labor‘s website. You can join the conversation about Equal Pay on Twitter using the #EqualPayNow hashtag.

There’s more information, including infographics and reports at the bottom of the Equal Pay section of the United States Department of Labor website.
